The Slovak Ambassador to Nigeria pays a courtesy visit to Asseco Nigeria and Wapic Insurance Plc

The Slovak Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Peter Holasek paid a courtesy visit to Asseco Software Nigeria (a member of Asseco Group, the 6th largest software company in Europe) and Wapic Insurance Plc (a foremost Insurance Company in Nigeria) on the occasion of his visit to Lagos on 2 February 2018.

The main purpose of the visit was His Excellency’s familiarization with the Wapic – Asseco StarINS core insurance implementation project, the relationship between these companies and beyond them Nigeria and Slovakia in terms of technology development and transfer.

Wapic Insurance Plc. contracted Asseco Software Nigeria Ltd. and its Slovak sister company Asseco Central Europe a.s. to deliver a customized and integrated composite core insurance software system for its general insurance and life insurance business, comprising Asseco’s StarINS back-end and iPortal front-end systems. The Project, referred to by the Client as the “Wapic Technology Transformation Project” or “WaTT Project” is arguably the largest single transformation project in the Nigerian insurance market and establishes Wapic as a technology leader among its peers. Go-live on the first phase has been achieved in September 2017 and the 2 remaining Project phases are to be delivered before mid-2018.

One of the key subjects discussed during the meeting was the considerable investment that Wapic and Asseco have jointly made in terms of training and knowledge transfer, particularly within the frame of two training sessions of 3 weeks each in May-June 2017 and in February-March 2018 in Slovakia, where over 30 delegates from Nigeria and Ghana were successfully trained.

Beyond the strategic partnership between the two companies, this Project is a practical example of deepening business ties between Europe and West Africa.
